Frequently asked questions
What is roof rejuvenation, in one sentence?
A spray-on, acrylic-based sealant that penetrates aging asphalt shingles, restores flexibility, locks granules in place, and adds 8+ years of useful life — applied in a single afternoon, no tear-off required.
What is AcrySeal?
AcrySeal is the 100% acrylic, water-based shingle rejuvenation sealant we apply. It’s manufactured by Rx Industries (our parent company) and is the product behind every Shingle RX dealer in the country. It’s not a coating, not a paint, and not a soy-oil treatment — it’s an acrylic chemistry designed specifically for asphalt shingles.
Will it actually work on my roof?
Probably, if your asphalt shingles are between 6 and 15 years old, intact, not actively leaking, and on a structurally sound roof deck. We do a free inspection to confirm, and we’ll tell you straight if rejuvenation isn’t the right answer.
Does it work on metal, tile, or flat roofs?
No. AcrySeal is for asphalt shingles only. Metal, tile, modified-bitumen, and TPO/EPDM membrane roofs need different products entirely. We don’t try to apply AcrySeal to roofs it’s not designed for.
How long does the application take?
Most residential roofs are completed in a single day. Application itself runs 2–3 hours; site protection and cleanup take another 1–2 hours. You’re back to using your driveway by dinner.
Do I need to be home?
It helps to be there for the start, but it’s not required. We’ve completed plenty of jobs with just a property manager or a neighbor with a key. Snowbirds love this part — see our snowbird program.
What about my landscaping?
We mask everything within the dripline of the roof, cover walkways and driveway, and protect any sprinkler heads in the work zone. The product is water-based and low-VOC, so even minor incidental contact (which we work to prevent) doesn’t harm plants.
Will it rain on the wet sealant?
We don’t apply if rain is forecast within 4 hours. Once cured (about an hour after application), AcrySeal is rain-ready. If a surprise shower hits during application, we cover and resume.
How long until I can walk on the roof?
Wait 24 hours before walking the rejuvenated surface. Normal foot traffic for inspections or maintenance is fine after that.
Will it change the color of my roof?
AcrySeal is clear-curing. It can darken slightly the way a clear coat darkens car paint. Most homeowners notice their roof looks ‘newer’ rather than ‘different’ — the color you bought is the color you keep.
Is it safe for my kids and pets?
Yes once cured. We ask that pets stay inside while our crew is on site (a few hours). Once we leave, normal life resumes.
What does the 8-year warranty cover?
Granule retention, shingle flexibility, and the sealed surface. Acts of God, willful damage, and storm damage outside the product’s design tolerances are excluded — but we walk you through the warranty PDF before you sign anything.
Is the warranty transferable?
Yes. If you sell the home, the remainder of the warranty transfers to the new owner. Realtors love it.
What if I have a warranty claim?
Call us. Our number is on your warranty certificate and on every email we send. We respond within 1 business day.
What does it cost?
Roof rejuvenation typically runs 15–25% of what a tear-off would cost on the same roof. Your fixed quote is locked at signing. There are no surprise add-ons on application day.
Why is it so much cheaper than a tear-off?
Because we’re not removing your roof. No demolition labor, no new shingles, no underlayment, no flashing replacement, no dumpster, no haul-away. We’re maintaining what you have.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, through a Florida-friendly home improvement financing partner. Ask your inspector. Most homeowners pay out of pocket because the price is well under typical financing thresholds.
Will my insurance company recognize this as maintenance?
Florida carriers are paying more attention to documented maintenance than they ever have. Our maintenance record is the documentation an underwriter or 4-point inspector typically looks for. We can’t guarantee any specific carrier’s response — see our insurance page for the full picture.
Will it pass a 4-point inspection?
A rejuvenated roof passes condition checks more easily than an aging unrejuvenated one. The 4-point inspection looks at age, condition, and remaining useful life — rejuvenation directly improves two of those three.
Is this a wind mitigation credit?
Not on its own. Some 4-point inspectors note rejuvenated condition favorably, but it’s not a line-item credit like hurricane straps.
Will my HOA approve this?
Most do once they see the documentation. We have a pre-built HOA Approval Packet — board letter, spec sheet, warranty, photos, FAQ written for board members. See our HOA program.
Do you do whole-community programs?
Yes. If you’re on a board or a property manager, we’ll come present at your meeting at no cost and can quote the entire community at once with a 15–25% volume discount.
How is this different from Roof Maxx?
Roof Maxx is soybean-oil-based. AcrySeal is 100% acrylic. The acrylic chemistry doesn’t rely on bio-oils that can be washed off by storms or oxidized by UV. We’ll happily walk you through the difference if you have a competing quote.
Is this just paint?
No. Paint sits on top of the surface and doesn’t penetrate. AcrySeal both penetrates the asphalt (restoring oil) and forms a protective topical seal. Paint would actually damage shingles by trapping moisture; AcrySeal is breathable.
Should I just replace my roof instead?
Sometimes. If your shingles are too far gone, replacement is the right answer and we’ll tell you so. Rejuvenation is for roofs with life left in them — not roofs that are already failed.
Can you do this if I’m not in Florida?
Yes. Our snowbird program handles inspection, quoting, and application for absentee owners. Drone inspection, virtual quote, photo updates throughout.
How do I get a quote?
Fill out the quick form on our quote page, call (TBD), or email hello@shinglerxflorida.com. We’ll schedule a free inspection within 24–48 hours.
How fast can you get out for an inspection?
Typically within 7 days during slower seasons; 2–3 weeks during the April–June pre-storm-season rush. Call us for current scheduling in your region.
What if I’m not sure my roof is old enough or new enough?
Get a free inspection. We’ll tell you. There’s no obligation, no pressure, and no upcharge for telling you the truth.
Still have questions? We’ll answer them in person.
Free roof inspection. No pressure. We tell you when rejuvenation isn’t the right call.
